Dean's Message |
Welcome to the School of Arts and Sciences! The School of Arts and Sciences is central to the liberal arts education mission of Eastern Connecticut State University. Our twelve departments (Biology; English; Environmental Earth Science; History; Mathematics/Computer Science; Performing Arts; Physical Sciences; Political Science/Philosophy and Geography; Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work; Visual Arts; and World Languages and Cultures) provide most of the courses in the Liberal Arts Curriculum, and contribute to most of the majors, minors and interdisciplinary programs offered at Eastern.
We encourage ethical and intellectual development with a global perspective, and critical thinking coupled with excellent communication skills. Our curriculum focuses on integrating theory with practical experience in a variety of learning opportunities in Connecticut and abroad. As a result, our students graduate prepared to provide leadership in solving current and future societal problems.
I invite you to browse these pages to discover the many academic and physical resources that support our students in their four-year career development in and out of the classroom, and facilitate their academic journey toward graduation.
For questions regarding Faculty/Student Support issues, contact Associate Dean Amy Coffey. For overall information, please contact: Pat Chaves.
Sincerely,
Carmen R. Cid, Ph.D.
