WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Senior Alexis WARRIORlogo2009_72dpi.jpgCavanaugh (Cheshire) continued her comeback from shin splints by finishing among the top 40 percent in a field of 275 runners Saturday at the ECAC Division III Women's Cross Country Championship Meet at Mt. Greylock High School.

Last year's No. 2 runner, Cavanaugh placed 102nd overall in her third race of the season after missing the first half of the year while recovering from shin splints. Cavanaugh was timed in 26:48 over the 6,000 meter race, nearly one minute faster than her time on this course last year at the regional qualifier.

Three of Eastern's other four competitors were freshmen.

Only half of Eastern's runners competed in the race, with many choosing to rest for next Saturday's NCAA Division III New England qualifier at the Twin Brook Recreation Center in Cumberland, ME.
