Freshman Kevin Lochard (at left) ran the second leg of Eastern Connecticut State University's winning 4x400 meter relay Friday at the Eastern Invitational. Trinity College and Manhattanville College joined Eastern in the non-scoring meet at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex. All four runners in the relay are newcomers to the program, among them freshman leadoff runner D'Vonte Chambers, freshman Dylan Kruppa and sophomore anchor Fredrick Hewett. Chambers qualified for next month's New England Division III Championships with a winning time of 11.40 in the 100 meters. Hewett won the 200 and 400, qualifying for the ECAC Division III Championships next month with a time of 49.94 in the latter event. Additional winners included freshman Steven Strauss in the discus, Kruppa in the long jump, sophomore Mark Jolley in the high jump, and freshmen Lee Cattanach at 1,500 meters, Austin Baldour at 5,000 meters, and Luisantonio Rosado in the hurdles.
