Warriors place fourth in field of ten at Springfield Invitational
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Freshman Kevin Lochard (Stamford) won at 800 meters and freshman Lusiantonio Rosado (Ponce, PR) and 4x100 meter relay qualified for post-season competition when the Eastern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track and field team finished fourth at the Springfield College Invitational at the Blake Track Saturday.

Lochard outran a field of 17 runners with a winning time of 1:58.68 -- edging Springfield's Ryan O'Connell by .17 -- and recorded ten of the team's total of 82 points. Springfield College (214) won the ten-team competition, 73 points better than runner-up Westfield State University.
Rosado in the 110meter hurdles and the 4x100 meter relay both qualified for next month's post-season competition. In the 110 hurdles, Rosado qualified for the New England Division III Championships with a time of 16.47. He collected eight points with a second-place finish in a field of nine performers. Rosado also anchored the 4x100 relay, which met the standards for ECAC and New England competition with a time of 43.43. Also running that relay - which was made up of all first-year performers and which finished fourth in a field of seven -- were sophomore Fredrick Hewett (New London) and freshmen D'Vonte Chambers (West Haven) and Dylan Kruppa (Torrington).
Hewett totaled 14 points in individual events on the afternoon, Kruppa 13 and Rosado 11. Hewett was second at 100 meters (11.32) and third at 200 meters (22.99) and Kruppa was second in the long jump (20-3 ¾) and fourth at 400 meters (51.60). In addition to the 110 hurdles, Rosado added three points with a sixth-place finish in the 400 hurdles.
Other top performers included Chambers, who was sixth in a field of 25 in the 100 and seventh among 24 in the 200. Junior Nick Miller (Norwich) placed fifth in a field of 13 in the 5000 and freshman Andre Reynolds (Hartford) was third among nine in the 110 hurdles.
Eastern competes in the Little East Conference/New England Alliance Championships Saturday at Westfield State University at 11:30 a.m.
