After earning 15 points in win over RWU, she is Rookie of Week
NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Freshman Macaire Jones (Danbury) has been selected as the women's swimming Rookie-of-the-Week in the Little East Conference for her contributions in Saturday's victory over Roger Williams University.

One of the team's top performers in the sprint freestyle and in the butterfly, Jones became the second Eastern swimmer to earn an award this season and first Eastern rookie to be selected for the weekly honor since last February 6.
Jones totaled 15 points in three individual events Saturday, plus swam a leg of the 200 yard freestyle relay which was second in a time of 1:46.39 when Eastern downed visiting Roger Williams University, 154-107, for its sixth dual victory against a loss this year. Jones won the 100 yard freestyle (56.64) for the third time this year, was second in the 50 freestyle (25.95) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (1:06.22), posting season-best times in all three events.
Jones, who has captured the 50 freestyle four times this season, has the fastest time on the team this year in the 50 freestyle, second-fastest mark in the 100 freestyle and third-fastest times in the 100, 50 (29.43) and 200 (2:36.63) butterfly events.
During the Little East Conference Championships Dec. 1, Jones earned all-conference honors by swimming the anchor leg of the 200 medley relay which placed second. She was also fourth in the 50 freestyle, fifth in the 100 freestyle and ninth in the 100 butterfly.
Eastern hosts Western New England University Wednesday at 6 p.m.
