Following an exciting win over Plymouth State, Eastern (8-5, 2-1 conference) looks to improve its conference record to 3-1 with a win over UMass Dartmouth (2-9, 0-3 conference) Tuesday night.
Tuesday at noon -- Eastern Athletics Weekly with head coach Bill Geitner and Mike Garrow. www.littleeast.tv.
Brian Salzillo was 4th in the nation with three point field goals per game with 3.9 entering Saturday's game. Salzillo didn't disappoint as he hit four three pointers. Salzillo will look to stay hot in this one as he'll be tested with a few talented guards on the Corsairs side.
Mike Rotando and John Genkos both average around 14 points per game for UMass Dartmouth. Genkos shoots 45 percent from beyond the arc and will likely be trading threes with Salzillo during this one.
The most interesting matchup of the day will be Chris Robitaille and Alex Rodrigues. Rodrigues, the 6-7 sophomore, averages just under 11 points per game and has strong offensive game down in the post where he does all of his work. Robitialle, just 2 inches shorter, will cause problems for Rodrigues as Robitaille has for many players in the post this season.
I don't believe that Eastern will have many problems in this one as it should come away with a win. Although, every one of these conference games end up coming down to just a few points.
Key for Eastern - Get Mike Garrow involved early and often. Garrow had an off-game on Saturday vs. the Panthers and will look to get back on track during this one. He should have plenty of mismatches throughout, so look for him to take advantage.
