Buffalo State nets only goal of match 19 minutes into second half
MANHATTANVILLE, N.Y. - Senior Shaunta Pyles scored her first goal of the season 19 minutes into the second half -- the first goal scored against the Eastern Connecticut State University women's soccer team in 335 minutes this year - as Buffalo State College nipped the Warriors, 1-0, on the second day of the Valiant Classic, hosted by Manhattanville College at GoValiants.com Field.

Ranked No. 8 in New England, Eastern (3-1-0) had shut out its first three opponents this year, including Farmingdale State (1-0) in Friday night's first match in the tournament. Coming off a sub-.500 season last year, Buffalo (2-1-1) was edged by Manhattanville, 1-0, Friday night.
Led by junior keeper Linda Banfield, the Bengals have given up only two goals this season. Banfield was credited with three saves in picking up her second shutout in four starts and lowering her goals-against average to 0.54.
Making her second start and appearance, Eastern freshman keeper Chelsea Santos (Windsor Locks) had shut out Fitchburg State, 4-0, in her collegiate debut last Friday at the Warrior Classic. She was given one save.
Eastern visits Westfield State University Saturday at 3 p.m.
