Eastern Connecticut State University freshman middle hitter Kay Mullen (14) beats the block of senior Lindsay Rescott (5) and junior Nicole Molleur (11) in the late stages of the Warriors' three-set sweep Westfield State University in the opening match of the Springfield College Invitational Friday afternoon at Dana Gymasium on the SC campus. Eastern won by scores of 25-13, 25-22, 25-22 to snap a three-match losing streak and improve its overall record at 2-3. Mullen had six kills and attacked at .357 to improve her season attack percentage to .302. Freshman Adrianna Mihalek led the Warriors with 11 kills and attacked at .292 and freshman Ashley Adams added eight kills. Juniors Allie Henry and Jess Patrizi each set for 14 assists and sophomore Allie Luppi collected a team-high 14 digs. Mullen added three blocks.After winning their first three matches by sweep, the Owls (3-2) were swept by a Little East Conference opponent for the second time in three days. Eastern continues tournament play Saturday at 10 a.m. against Rivier College.
