Happy Spring to all our students. Over the winter break, I had the privilege of going on one of our Eastern Global Field Courses, accompanying two history professors and 15 Eastern students to Turkey. What an amazing adventure we had! We visited several of the many archeological sites in Turkey and saw amazing buildings in Istanbul (the former Constantinople). Ephesus in Western Turkey is a well-preserved site that was once the capital of the Roman Empire. Our tour guide, Alkan, made the history of Turkey and present-day culture of Turkey come alive for all of us.
As part of your college career at Eastern, if you can manage it, I heartily encourage you to participate in one of the Global Field Courses we offer. Courses that are currently open include a Psychology trip to Nepal, a course in Italy where you will do creative writing, a month-long language and culture immersion in Spain and a wonderful insider arts trip to Cuba this summer. Take a look at these options and see if you can fit one of them into your life--you won't be sorry! http://www.easternct.edu/ce/GlobalFieldCourses-list.htm
