May 2010 Archives

Allies and Spectrum were two active and successful clubs. Both had a very important presence on campus and provided valuable resources to the student body and to the LGBTPQQAIA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Pansexual, Queer, Questioning, Asexual, Intersex, and their Allies) community.

Allies had memorable events such as Allies Fashion Show and Allies Week. Spectrum had Transgender Speaking Panels and Drag Shows. Allies and Spectrum were known for having two separate personalities that distinguished the clubs from each other; one was social, and one was political and activist.

After working together on different events, the members within both groups realized that each club had individuals and abilities that aided each other. The clubs decided to petition Student Government Association to merge into Pride Alliance. The goal is to build more alliances with each other, on campus, and in the community. Pride Alliance is the product of two clubs who have worked very hard to educate and unify the campus, and Pride Alliance will only continue to embrace the diversity on campus and outreach with education, social and awareness events.

If you are interested in learning more about Pride Alliance or any of the other student government recognized clubs on campus, visit the student activities web site.
