Campus Movie Fest Comes Back to Eastern

Calling all Steven Spielberg wanna-be's.  Campus Movie Fest has returned for a 3rd straight year giving student the opportunity to share their stoy on the big screen as part of the world's largest student film festival.

Borrow a MacBook Pro or iPad2 and a Panasonic HD camcorder, as well as getting all the training and support you need to make a movie in a week!

Students and staff from Eastern Connecticut State University attended this year's National Association for Campus Activities conference in Hartford CT on November 17-19. Students from Eastern's Campus Activity Board (CAB) competed in several categories and took home the honors for: best flier, best themed campaign and best traditional promotion for their division.

Associate Director of Student Activities/Student Center, Candace DeAngelis, was also recognized at this year's regional conference. She was honored with the Maureen McDermott/Michelle Delaney Staff Programmer award which is given to someone who best exemplifies outstanding achievement in the field of student affairs.

The National Association for Campus Activities advances campus activities in higher education through a business and learning partnership, creating educational and business opportunities for its school and professional members. NACA now has more than 950 college and university members and over 550 associate members who represent artists, lecturers and performers.

Campus Activities Board Wins NACA Awards


CAB - Fall 2010.jpgThe Campus Activities Board (CAB) at Eastern Connecticut State University attended the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) Northeast regional conference  on November. 4-6 in Hartford, CT. The student group received the Excellence In Programming award in the category for schools with 2,001 - 5,000 students for the second year in a row. CAB students submitted five of their most creative events to an awards committee and they were chosen among many schools to present these events at an educational session during the conference. The Excellence In Programming awards were established to distinguish the outstanding programming happening in the NACA Northeast Region.

Eastern student Jessica Ruddy received the Ken M. Bedini Student Leader award for her outstanding contributions to the region and for making a difference at the institution. Jessica, a senior, is from East Hartford, CT. She is a dean's list student, the vice president of the Senior Class Committee, the special events coordinator on CAB, a member of the pathways to leadership program and a student orientation counselor.

CAB Street Team


Do you want to be a part of CAB?

Come to the first Street Team Meeting, Tuesday April 7 at 10pm in the Student Center Room 219. All Eastern students are welcome.

Street Team is an initiative to market and promote CAB events in new and creative ways. This might include acting and filming a commercial to be aired before CAB movies and at other CAB events, creating funny cheers that will be certain to draw attention or by personally inviting Eastern students to our events. Don't miss out!

Spring Concert Featuring NAS

Nas_rapper_logo.jpgCAB is excited to announce this year's Spring Concert will feature famed rapper, NAS. The concert is May 9, 2009 at 7pm (doors open at 6pm) in the Geissler Gymnasium. Tickets go on sale to students, faculty, staff and their guests on April 13, 9am at the Student Center Information Desk. Eastern ID must be presented to purchase ticket(s). Tickets for the general public go on sale April 20. Student ticket price is $10, guest tickets are $15 and tickets purchased at the door are $20. You can also purchase tickets at starting April 20.
