Don't miss out on a great on campus opportunity to expand your leadership skills! Attend the Pathways to Leadership Conference this Friday, April 13th from 12:30-6pm in the Student Center. Participate in interactive sessions, hear from keynote speaker Michael Miller, receive dinner, and a free t-shirt.

As a participant at the 2012 Pathways to Leadership Conference you will gain useful knowledge and skills that you can bring back to your club or organization and put into action.

You must register to attend the conference. Registration is taking place at the Student Center Information Desk and must be completed by Wednesday, April 11th. Hurry! Space is limited.

Students and staff from Eastern Connecticut State University attended this year's National Association for Campus Activities conference in Hartford CT on November 17-19. Students from Eastern's Campus Activity Board (CAB) competed in several categories and took home the honors for: best flier, best themed campaign and best traditional promotion for their division.

Associate Director of Student Activities/Student Center, Candace DeAngelis, was also recognized at this year's regional conference. She was honored with the Maureen McDermott/Michelle Delaney Staff Programmer award which is given to someone who best exemplifies outstanding achievement in the field of student affairs.

The National Association for Campus Activities advances campus activities in higher education through a business and learning partnership, creating educational and business opportunities for its school and professional members. NACA now has more than 950 college and university members and over 550 associate members who represent artists, lecturers and performers.

On Thursday, September 2, 2010, Eastern Connecticut State University will hold its annual President's Picnic and Student Activities Fair from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. The President's Picnic will be held on the Wood Support Services Lawn. At the same time, over 60 student run clubs and organizations which are sponsored by the Student Government Association will be on Student Center patio for the Student Activities Fair. The rain date for the event is Wednesday, September 8, 2010.

The Student Activities Fair is an excellent opportunity for all students to explore opportunities to get involved on campus. Current members of the clubs and organizations will be present to give interested students information on meeting times and expectations along with details about upcoming programs being planned by the groups.

Joining a club or organization has benefits beyond connecting with other students with similar interests. During the 2009-10 academic year, individuals who were involved in student clubs and organizations achieved better than their peers who did not participate within the classroom. Over 1000 students participated during that time and averaged a grade point average of 3.04.

A complete list of currently active clubs and organizations is available at the Student Activities web site. Students are always welcome to start a new club or organization. Information on the web site indicates the process on how to get started. Offiicially recognized Student Government Association Clubs and Organizations' e-mails are now located on Live@EDU. As with all Eastern student e-mail accounts, there are steps that need to be accomplished in order to access this new system. One of the account-holders must logon to the @stu account which will generate a password change requirement. Once that is completed, they can logon to the club's new email account by browsing to: http://www.outlook.com. They will logon with the new email address as the username - clubname@my.easternct.edu and the new password generated as part of the logon to the old @stu account. Below are some additional instructions and information about the change.

•         While no new email after June 15, 2010 will be delivered to @stu.easternct.edu, you will continue to have access to messages already there until October 31, 2010. This will allow you to manage those messages that you want to retain permanently by simply forwarding them to your new @my.easternct.edu email account or printing them out.
•         On October 31, 2010 your @stu.easternct.edu email account and all messages within it will be permanently deleted.
•         You can go to your new @my.easternct.edu Inbox by browsing to www.outlook.com and entering your new @my.easternct.edu email address and your Eastern technology account password.
•         In the future, should you ever need to change your password to your Eastern Technology Account (Blackboard Vista, University Computer Logon, Eastern Email) from off-campus, please browse to www.easternct.edu/pwchange
•         Your new @my.easternct.edu Inbox also serves as the gateway to the myriad of other services provided by Eastern's My.EasternCT.edu. Those services include "SkyDrive", Workspace, Photo Gallery, Mobile Device (iPhone, Windows SmartPhone access) and instant messaging.  For more information on these features as well as links to logon to your new @my.easternct.edu Inbox and your old @stu.easternct.edu Inbox, visit www.easternct.edu/email.

The Office of Student Activities today launches its new blog. Check here often for topics of conversation including but not limited to events happening on campus, club and organization accomplishments, Student Government Association announcements and activities, and policy updates/changes within the department. We hope for this blog to be a new and effective way for the department to communicate with students and the rest of the Eastern community.
