Course
Description
The First-Year
Resource, Research, and Response course will introduce you to college life
and life as an English major. It's designed to help you be more successful
as you negotiate your way through college, through your major, and, hopefully,
set you on your way to the professional goals you've set for yourself. It
will provide you with skills and make you aware of campus services, most of
which are free, that are designed to help you have a successful college career.
The course will include academic planning, campus life, cultural events in
Willimantic, critical and creative thinking, and communication, personal development,
and study skills.

Participation
Regular attendance of classes
is absolutely expected for this course. Two or more unexcused absences will
lower your participation grade significantly.
Avoid plagiarism (stealing the words or ideas of another) like the plague. In this class acts of plagiarism incur a zero and could also result in course failure or even dismissal from the university.
Disclaimer: I reserve the right to change the syllabus (with plenty of advanced warning)
